The Will A. Courtney, Sr. Legacy Fund recognizes donors who want their legacy to endure for future generations. A planned gift to The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation ensures that educational programs are supported for future generations. The Courtney Legacy Fund honors bequests, trusts, life insurance and other charitable vehicles that enrich our community.
The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation's Board of Directors honored fellow board member Will A. Courtney, Sr. for his years of service and involvement with the Library Foundation through the establishment of the Will A. Courtney, Sr. Legacy Fund. Board Chairman Tom Turner said, "We are grateful for Will's longtime service as a Library Foundation Board Member. He has helped raise funds and awareness for the Library Foundation for many years. When Will and I began talking about the importance of planned giving for the future of the Library Foundation, we naturally started discussing his legacy gift and how several Board Members wanted to name the planned giving effort in his honor."
"It's never too early to learn to read." Courtney commented. "Growing up, I was very fortunate to have parents who strongly emphasized the importance of education. The Courtney Legacy Fund will help ensure the Library Foundation's future work by helping individuals integrate charitable giving into their estate plans. We need to continue supporting educational programs in our community."
"Will's been our champion for years, from serving as our Development Committee Chairman, participating on our event committee, making gifts in honor of his friends and family, naming the children's area in his Wedgwood branch to including us in his estate plans. I cannot think of a better way to honor Will's dedication to supporting educational programs in our libraries and community than with the establishment of the Will A. Courtney, Sr. Legacy Fund," remarked Library Foundation President & CEO Leslie Oliver.
